Dawk ("the App," "we," "us") is developed and operated by Jack Collins, an individual developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information Dawk collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, password (stored securely and never visible to us in plain text), first and last name, and a username you choose. You may optionally add a profile photo.

Content You Create

• Daily trivia photos: a photo you take each day as part of gameplay, along with your score and category results
• Comments you post on your own or friends' daily trivia posts
• Custom trivia games you create, including questions, answers, and any images you attach
• Messages sent in live game chat during hosted or joined games
• Captions you write for your daily trivia photo

Social Information

• Your friend connections (who you've added, who's added you)
• Friend requests you send or receive
• If you block another user, we retain a record of that block to enforce it

Live Game Information

• Your participation in live trivia games you host or join, including team assignments, answers submitted, and scores
• Room codes and game configuration you set as a host

Automatically Collected Information
Basic device and crash data collected through Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, when the app encounters an unexpected error. This may include device type, operating system version, and the sequence of actions that led to the error. This is used solely to identify and fix bugs — it is not used for advertising or sold to anyone.

We do not collect precise location data, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics services beyond the crash reporting described above.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Operate core features: daily trivia, friend connections, comments, notifications, and live trivia games
• Display your content (photos, scores, comments) to your friends within the app
• Detect, investigate, and fix bugs and crashes
• Enforce blocks and review reported content to keep the app safe
• Communicate with you about your account (e.g., password reset emails)

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.

3. How Your Information Is Shared

• With other users: your username, profile photo, daily trivia photo and score, and comments are visible to your friends within the app, consistent with how the app's social features work. Public trivia games you create may be visible to other users who search for or host them.
• With service providers: we use Supabase to host our database, authentication, and file storage, and Sentry for crash and error monitoring. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own security and privacy practices.
• We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
• We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Your Choices and Rights

• Access and correction: you can view and edit your profile information directly in the app.
• Deletion: you can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Account Settings. This removes your profile, photos, comments, and friendships from our systems.
• Blocking: you can block another user at any time from their profile, which removes any friendship between you and prevents future friend requests and visibility of their comments to you.
• Communication: you can manage notification preferences from within the app.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems, though residual copies may briefly persist in backups before being purged on our standard backup rotation schedule.

6. Children's Privacy

Dawk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at dawktrivia@gmail.com and we will remove it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
